Donor Conception Network
A self-help network of over 1600 families created with the help of donated eggs, sperm or embryos. Aims to deal with a range of issues around donor conception and provides workshops, booklists and personal stories.
Is a self help charity aiming to increase awareness and understanding about endometriosis. For an annual membership fee of £20 lots of information is provided including a quarterley members magazine, an annual Information Day plus free fact sheets, leaflets and information packs.
HFEA: Human Fertilisation and Embryo Authority
The UK's independent regulator which oversees fertility treatment and research, providing impartial advice to the public. The HFEA licenses Fertility Clinics for IVF and other assisted conception. You will find individual clinic success rates on their website.
Infertility Network UK
The leading UK fertility network, offering information and support to anyone affected by fertility. Free membership with enhanced services for an annual £20 fee, including forums, chatrooms, fact sheets, information about NHS funding, online counselling and legal advice, the latest news and research information.
ACe Babes was launched under the umbrella of Infertility Network UK in October 2010. A campaigning group, it aims to provide a voice for everyone parenting after infertility - whether after assisted conception, IVF or ICSI, after donor eggs or sperm, surrogacy, adoption and fostering - recognising that the journey to parenthood has not been simple. For an anual subscription of £20 there is access to forums, chatrooms, fact sheets and local support groups.

Acupuncture for Hemorrhoid Post-Op Pain Relief
Researchers conclude that acupuncture is an effective adjunct alongside pain relief medications for patients post haemorrhoid operation. The acupuncture group and standard analgesic pharmaceutical drug group had similar reductions in pain after surgery. Also patients receiving Acupuncture required less pain killing medication.
Acupuncture helps with radiation-induced dry mouth syndrome
A new bi-national study done in the US and in China shows how acupuncture is being used to help a common side caused by radiation to the head and neck following cancer treatment – xerostomia, or chronic dry mouth. "I believe this will become the new standard of care for patients with this condition using acupuncture alongside radiotherapy helps reduce the severity of this condition" said Lorenzo Cohen, PhD Anderson Cancer Center.
Research demonstrates Acupuncture has a role in nerve regeneration of the brain following a stroke
Acupuncture may help in stroke due to cerebral ischemia – a condition due to restricted blood flow to the brain. The research cites the ability of acupuncture to “promote the proliferation and differentiation of neural stem cells in the brain… accelerate angiogenesis and inhibit apoptosis.” The researchers note that the Conception Vessel (CV, Ren channel) and Governing Vessel (GV, Du channel) are effective acupuncture meridians to “prevent and treat neural injuries following cerebral ischemia.
