Meet The Leeds Acupuncture Team

Caroline Haigh. BSc. Dip Ac. Cert CHM. MBAcC. MATCMUK

Caroline runs a busy clinic and has been in practice for over 25 years having considerable experience in the Acupuncture profession. She is a registered Acupuncturist and member of The British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) gaining first class in her 3 year Acupuncture training course at the Northern College of Acupuncture (NCA). Caroline is also qualified in Chinese Herbal Medicine and is a member of the Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture UK. She is on a voluntary register that has been accredited by The Professional Standards Authority set up to improve standards and safety. Accreditation demonstrates a commitment to high professional standards

Having trained to degree level in 1997 Caroline has subsequently undertaken extensive further postgraduate training. This includes Acupuncture training in China at the Women’s Health Department of a leading Beijing hospital.

Caroline has a postgraduate Diploma in Fertility Acupuncture. As a Fertility Support trained Acupuncturist Caroline undertakes at least monthly specialist CPD with renowned leaders from the international fertility field. This enables her to keep abreast of developments in all aspects of male and female fertility. She is a lecturer to Acupuncture practitioners including Zita West affiliated practitioners from around the UK and Ireland.

Further postgraduate training includes Facial/Cosmetic Acupuncture in addition to working with various pain conditions amongst many other areas of expertise.

Caroline is qualified to offer professional Mentoring and Supervision support to Acupuncturists and others in the caring profession both on a 1:1 and group basis.

She runs Supervision groups for Acupuncturists around the country as part of the Practitioner Hub linked to the NCA which offers ongoing professional development. Caroline also offers her own 1:1 and group Supervision sessions. She is on the BAcC list of registered Supervisors as well as part of a national network of Mentoring Supervisors.

Further teaching includes facilitating sessions at the Northern College of Acupuncture for the Professional Development part of student learning. This covers self-care as well as the role that Supervision can play in the Acupuncture profession to provide support and build professional networks.

Caroline has a Psychology degree. Prior to becoming an Acupuncturist she worked in the mental health field. This involved direct client support using a person centred approach as well as managing and supporting teams and whole services. Caroline was also involved in planning and providing training in mental health and a wide variety of other issues across a large social care organisation.

She currently works alongside Anxiety UK and the British Acupuncture Council offering Acupuncture for a current research project into the potential benefits of anxiety from Acupuncture.

Kate Ritchie: BSc hons. MBAcC

Kate is a registered Acupuncturist and member of The British Acupuncture Council being awarded a first class BSc in Acupuncture from the Northern College of Acupuncture in York and has also completed her Auricular Acupuncture training with NADA GB.  She has a special interest in Fertility and Women’s Health and completed her final research project in this field.

Prior to her Acupuncture career, Kate spent over 10 years working for the NHS as an Occupational Therapist primarily in the field of Mental Health.  She has worked in both acute and community settings and brings with her a wealth of experience from this work.

She is also a qualified aromatherapist and exercise instructor and is a keen advocate of a holistic approach to health and wellbeing.

Kate enjoys working with people experiencing a variety of physical and emotional health problems and is committed to providing the best service at the clinic. She is currently also involved in teaching at the Northern College of Acupuncture and has presented at the annual British Conference of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.

Rachael English. Bsc hons MBAcC

Rachael is a qualified Acupuncturist and a registered member of the British Acupuncture Council. She graduated from Leeds Beckett University in 2011 with a BSc (Hons.) degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine: Acupuncture. As such, she has extensive training in clinical therapies, anatomy and physiology, combining the perspectives of Eastern Medicine with those of Western Medicine.

Rachael has worked in private practice since graduation and has been part of Caroline’s team since 2012. She is committed to ongoing personal and professional development, regularly undertaking postgraduate training, in order to provide the very best service to those she works with.

Some of Rachael’s most recent training includes Cosmetic Acupuncture, Battlefield Acupuncture, Cupping and Gua Sha, all of which support her skillset in working with clients who have acute and chronic pain conditions.

Rachael has also undertaken extensive and in-depth training with Naava Carmen in relation to reproductive immunology, PCOS and recurrent miscarriage.

Her approach to working with clients focuses on integrating the mind and body to cultivate a greater awareness of how lifestyle can influence the body’s overall health.

Rachael has many areas of special interest and enjoys seeing how Acupuncture is able to offer support to a wide range of people and circumstances.
