I suffer from a recurring neck/shoulder problem and have received acupuncture treatment from Caroline, periodically, over the last 3 years. Whilst initially sceptical and having tried other treatments to alleviate the pain, I can say without doubt that acupuncture works. Two separate friends recommended Caroline and her team at Calverley and Rawdon Acupuncture Clinic to me as an additional avenue to explore as part of my fertility journey. I contacted the clinic and quickly booked in for an online fertility consultation. At the end of the hour and a half talking through my complex issues with Caroline online, I burst into tears – tears of relief! For the first time in 3 years, this was the first time a professional had discussed all of the possible causes of recurrent miscarriage in depth with me. We discussed diet, lifestyle and familial medical history in far more depth than the clinicians at the hospital have ever asked about. I was given a bank of useful information to support me in trying different techniques to support our chances of a successful pregnancy. I now have weekly acupuncture sessions which I feel are having a positive impact on my health and wellbeing. I first considered Acupuncture when I read an article suggesting it was helpful in the treatment of Trigeminal Neuralgia. I had exhausted treatments in conventional medicine and I was suffering from acute pain in my face. Despite initial trepidation, my first visit to Caroline proved extremely successful in the management of pain. There has been a continued improvement following each subsequent visit. The facilities at this practice are excellent and I would without hesitation suggest Acupuncture to anyone suffering pain.

Having been diagnosed with Bell’s Palsy three weeks earlier, (no, I’d never heard of it either) both my GP and the NHS physiotherapist that I was referred to had warned me to expect continued facial paralyse for up to six months and possibly beyond. Almost immediately after starting a twice weekly acupuncture programme at the clinic, I experienced significant and clearly noticeable improvement. After another three weeks I was able to close my left eye and do away with the eye patch. My Physio’s mouth literally fell open when I showed him the progress I was making at our next scheduled appointment, resulting in me being ‘discharged’ from the NHS outpatient system. Based on my own experience, the impact on improving recovery time from Bell’s Palsy through acupuncture is clear. However, I’m also convinced that the broader experience that I received at this particular clinic helped me manage the emotional effects of the condition, through Caroline’s professional but very personal approach to treatment, and giving me regular points within my week to proactively do something to help my recovery

The acupuncture and care I received throughout my pregnancy helped with worry, sickness and really helped to relieve severe hip pain in my last trimester. I was waking every hour at one point in agony and after one treatment in my hip I was able to sleep through the night. After trying to get pregnant for several years, two years ago my husband was diagnosed with severe oligospermia – a very low sperm count. We couldn’t believe it! It was a real unexpected shock. Fortunately with my fertility intact, we were accepted onto a course of ICSI treatment with LGI.
Wanting to maximise our chances of success, we spent some time researching on the internet, and we decided to focus on improving our lifestyle with better nutrition and acupuncture. We found Caroline, who really fitted the bill as she is affiliated to Zita West. My husband was treated first with acupuncture, which he found very relaxing and Caroline supported his treatment with Chinese medicine. I was also treated in preparation for and throughout the ICSI cycle. Both of us found Caroline very supportive and understanding throughout this difficult period in our lives. The outcome has been a massive success – my husband’s sperm improved in quality, and we were successful in conceiving one beautiful baby girl on our first attempt. We are thrilled!!
