Acupuncture
Acupuncture is recognised to be effective in addressing a wide range of physical and emotional conditions.
Acupuncture involves the insertion of very fine sterile needles, it is typically pain free and clients report feeling very relaxed during and after a session. It encourages the body to uses its own natural ability to self-regulate and heal. Acupuncture has been shown to reduce pain, inflammation, balance hormones, improve blood flow and reduce stress. It can help to modulate the immune system, increase energy levels and promote wellbeing.
Many people come to Acupuncture for help with a condition or specific symptoms. Some because they feel generally unwell but have no clear diagnosis. Others simply to enhance their feeling of wellbeing and maintain good health. Traditional Acupuncture looks at the whole person rather than specific symptoms in isolation.
Acupuncture has a history extending over thousands of years and is increasingly supported by modern science and recognised as a go to natural therapy for the modern world.

Chinese Herbal Medicine
Chinese herbal medicine has been an important part of the healthcare system in Asia for thousands of years becoming increasingly popular in the West.
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is used to describe the complete system of medicine that has been developed and refined over a long period of time. It is the world’s oldest continually practiced professional medical system with detailed textbooks stretching back across almost 2500 years.
TCM primarily includes Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine but can also involve dietary recommendations, massage and heat treatment called moxibustion all of which are available at the clinic.
Chinese Herbal Medicine has a wide clinical use. It is often good at helping complex conditions which have otherwise proven difficult or those that are slow to respond to other interventions. A consultation will determine whether herbal medicines are suitable for taking alongside Acupuncture or alone in their own right.
Following a thorough consultation, a prescription of herbs tailored to individual need is written. Chinese herbs often come in the form of a powder which is taken as a drink.
All products are herbal and from nationally accredited suppliers. They are of the highest quality, 100% non-sulphur treated and sourced from Good Agricultural Practice (GAP) certified fields and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) factories. Each batch of herbs is traceable to source and comes with a certificate of analysis, which show levels of active ingredient, pesticide residue, heavy metals and microbiology.

Our Success Stories
Many thanks for assisting me in managing my blood pressure level and stress. Thank you for helping me through a very stressful period. I’m now a firm believer in the benefits of acupuncture and will be in touch the minute things get ‘too much’ again!!

I had osteoarthritis in my knees and went to see Caroline at Calverley and Rawdon Acupuncture Clinic. I found the acupuncture extremely helpful in easing and controlling the pain until knee replacements 2 years later. I now have spondylolisthesis (lower back pain) and was in a great deal of discomfort but have recently started acupuncture again and have been amazed at the immense relief after only a few sessions.

Each time I visit , you have reviewed my current state of health as a whole person, so that whenever I have had other problems such as hot flushes with the menopause or musculoskeletal pain such as neck or back pain you have given me acupuncture for these as well. No doubt I will find other things go wrong with my body as I grow older!!
Not only is the acupuncture of great benefit but the professional way in which you provide a friendly and truly individual treatment for me has always put me at ease. As one health professional to another I feel most confident in trusting your knowledge and expertise. I am happy to recommend you to anyone seeking relief from pain and symptoms which often drugs or surgery cannot resolve.

Being a life- long sufferer of eczema I had always relied on prescribed medicines to treat my skin. Recently I have become worried about the steroid cream I used and the thinning affect it has on skin. That is why I decided to try acupuncture. The results have been fantastic. Now with monthly acupuncture sessions, herbal medicine and some small changes to in diet my skin has dramatically improved. I do still suffer from the occasional flair up but thanks to Caroline they are becoming less intense and a lot less frequent

I suffered from regular severe migraines for most of my adult life which were so bad I would spend hours in bed , vomiting and enduring terrible pain which no amount of medication seemed to touch. I contacted Caroline and embarked on a course of acupuncture and even though I really didn’t expect it to work it DID ! It’s been over three years since I finished treatment and in that time I have had just ONE attack. I’ve recently returned to Caroline’s clinic as I have been getting frequent tension headaches and after just a couple of sessions I have experienced a vast improvement. I think it’s MAGIC and I would – and do – recommend it to everyone !

I have been coming to you for acupuncture for a good many years now and I am happy to say that you have helped me maintain a balance for my health through the acupuncture treatments you have provided. You have treated my gastro-intestinal problems so that I have been able to reduce my medication and sleep better. Originally the hospital consultant wanted me to have a stomach operation for my reflux problem , but thankfully I refused the operation and found that acupuncture has saved me from having drastic surgery. I now only need a top up once a month or so and also have found your dietary advice invaluable ( as long as I follow it!!).

Having been diagnosed with Bell’s Palsy three weeks earlier, (no, I’d never heard of it either) both my GP and the NHS physiotherapist that I was referred to had warned me to expect continued facial paralyse for up to six months and possibly beyond. Almost immediately after starting a twice weekly acupuncture programme at the clinic, I experienced significant and clearly noticeable improvement. After another three weeks I was able to close my left eye and do away with the eye patch. My Physio’s mouth literally fell open when I showed him the progress I was making at our next scheduled appointment, resulting in me being ‘discharged’ from the NHS outpatient system. Based on my own experience, the impact on improving recovery time from Bell’s Palsy through acupuncture is clear. However, I’m also convinced that the broader experience that I received at this particular clinic helped me manage the emotional effects of the condition, through Caroline’s professional but very personal approach to treatment, and giving me regular points within my week to proactively do something to help my recovery

I suffer from a recurring neck/shoulder problem and have received acupuncture treatment from Caroline, periodically, over the last 3 years. Whilst initially sceptical and having tried other treatments to alleviate the pain, I can say without doubt that acupuncture works. Caroline Haigh is very professional and the atmosphere is very relaxed and welcoming.

After injuring my back at work in the building trade, I explored various treatments unsuccessfully. I came across acupuncture by coincidence when I was working down the road from the clinic. I called in for some information which I received from Caroline, once she explained the benefits of acupuncture I booked an appointment. The first session was relaxing and eased my pain. By the fifth session the pain was completely gone. I can’t believe how effective the treatment was. I now have no problems at work and play football three times a week pain free. I highly recommend acupuncture for back pain relief. Caroline is very professional and knowledgeable.

I went to see Caroline at the Calverley & Rawdon Acupuncture Clinic after I developed Bell’s Facial Palsy following a particularly bad virus and chest infection. I had looked up the treatments for Bell’s Palsy on the internet myself although no medical person had advised or recommended me to do this. In my opinion the acupuncture definitely helped me to a speedy recovery – within a couple of sessions my face started to return to normal and after 7 sessions I decided it had returned almost completely, so much so that the consultant I was seeing commented that she had never seen anyone recover so quickly!

Before trying acupuncture I had suffered with severe migraines for a couple of years, often having at least one a week but often up to 3 or 4 in a week every single month, I had been back and forth a the doctors and also been referred to 3 separate neurologists none of which offered any help or successful treatment other than suggestions of long term medication which I was very reluctant to accept. I decided to try acupuncture after reading that this is now a recommended and recognised treatment for migraine. After only a few sessions with Caroline the benefits were incredible, I can easily go a couple of months without an attack, the impact this has had on my life is invaluable and the positive effects the treatment is unquestionable, I cannot recommend this method of treatment or thank Caroline enough.

I first considered Acupuncture when I read an article suggesting it was helpful in the treatment of Trigeminal Neuralgia. I had exhausted treatments in conventional medicine and I was suffering from acute pain in my face. Despite initial trepidation, my first visit to Caroline proved extremely successful in the management of pain. There has been a continued improvement following each subsequent visit. The facilities at this practice are excellent and I would without hesitation suggest Acupuncture to anyone suffering pain.
