The acupuncture and care I received throughout my pregnancy helped with worry, sickness and really helped to relieve severe hip pain in my last trimester. I was waking every hour at one point in agony and after one treatment in my hip I was able to sleep through the night. I went to see Caroline at the Calverley & Rawdon Acupuncture Clinic after I developed Bell’s Facial Palsy following a particularly bad virus and chest infection. I had looked up the treatments for Bell’s Palsy on the internet myself although no medical person had advised or recommended me to do this. In my opinion the acupuncture definitely helped me to a speedy recovery – within a couple of sessions my face started to return to normal and after 7 sessions I decided it had returned almost completely, so much so that the consultant I was seeing commented that she had never seen anyone recover so quickly!

When I met Caroline, she did a detailed assessment of me and my past history. I then started attending weekly sessions. After unsuccessfully trying for a baby and having several tests I was told by an eminent expert in fertility that my sperm had problems with mobility and function and that my wife and I would need to have IVF and ICSI to conceive a child. I was told that I was probably born this way and it could be genetic, having had no other children we agreed to be put on the waiting list for IVF. Both my wife and I had many acupuncture sessions over the course of several months with Caroline at her clinic in the run up to our IVF treatment. The day of the egg collection I was ushered away my an embryologist and told that since the last time I was tested my sperm had recovered to become much higher quality, as good as ‘normal’ in fact and that we would no longer require ICSI. We subsequently fertilised 12 eggs using normal IVF and managed to have a blastocyst implanted, as a bonus we had two embryos’s frozen. We are currently waiting to find out if my wife is pregnant but I but would like to thank Caroline for my treatment and potentially curing my ‘problem’.

It was my first experience of any ‘alternative’ medicine. I was immediately set at ease by the holistic approach to treatment and the attention given to our particular circumstances. Acupuncture gave me very positive energy throughout our hospital treatments, giving mental and physical strength to meet and accept any outcome. At the clinic I was given needle treatments and advised on Chinese herbs and diet throughout my IVF and later throughout my pregnancy. The results were that I got pregnant, had a very healthy pregnancy, again assisted by acupuncture techniques, and now have a delightful two year old. I am so glad we found Calverley and Rawdon Clinic. My experiences are that traditional medicines can be intrusive and intense; acupuncture for us was gentle without side effects and effective. For me, acupuncture is an overall positive experience on its own or alongside traditional treatments to restore balance.

I first went to see Caroline to try acupuncture for unexplained infertility. I had read some articles on how acupuncture can help with infertility and wanted to try all I could to help me get pregnant naturally and then to support me through an IVF cycle if my fertility journey came to that. Over the years I ended up having 2 ICSI cycles plus 2 frozen embryo transfers. I then had a natural pregnancy whilst on some immunotherapy treatment. Caroline & Rachael were fantastic throughout my journey. There are 3 things that I loved about this clinic:. Caroline & Rachael explained why different acupuncture points were used at different stages of my monthly cycle, through IVF and through pregnancy. I noticed a difference in my periods as soon as I started acupuncture (less blood clots) from the very beginning of my acupuncture treatment so I knew it was working and doing something!. I found the acupuncture treatment very relaxing, which is an added bonus when dealing with the stress of unexplained infertility. And most importantly, Caroline and Rachael gave me fantastic emotional support and helped me ask the right questions of my fertility clinics. They are a wonderful, caring and professional team. After many years of fertility treatment, I am pleased that I now have a little miracle that has joined our family. I will miss my regular sessions with Caroline and Rachael. No doubt I will pop back for the odd relaxation treatment instead!

I contacted the clinic and quickly booked in for an online fertility consultation. At the end of the hour and a half talking through my complex issues with Caroline online, I burst into tears – tears of relief!
