I had read about the benefits of acupuncture alongside IVF and made an appointment to see Caroline. I am now 13 weeks pregnant and believe that the acupuncture sessions alongside the IVF helped me to get pregnant. I found acupuncture very relaxing and think it is a very useful complement to IVF treatment

I first went to see Caroline to try acupuncture for unexplained infertility. I had read some articles on how acupuncture can help with infertility and wanted to try all I could to help me get pregnant naturally and then to support me through an IVF cycle if my fertility journey came to that. Over the years I ended up having 2 ICSI cycles plus 2 frozen embryo transfers. I then had a natural pregnancy whilst on some immunotherapy treatment. Caroline & Rachael were fantastic throughout my journey. There are 3 things that I loved about this clinic:. Caroline & Rachael explained why different acupuncture points were used at different stages of my monthly cycle, through IVF and through pregnancy. I noticed a difference in my periods as soon as I started acupuncture (less blood clots) from the very beginning of my acupuncture treatment so I knew it was working and doing something!. I found the acupuncture treatment very relaxing, which is an added bonus when dealing with the stress of unexplained infertility. And most importantly, Caroline and Rachael gave me fantastic emotional support and helped me ask the right questions of my fertility clinics. They are a wonderful, caring and professional team. After many years of fertility treatment, I am pleased that I now have a little miracle that has joined our family. I will miss my regular sessions with Caroline and Rachael. No doubt I will pop back for the odd relaxation treatment instead!

I first heard about the benefits of acupuncture alongside IVF treatment when my first cycle of IVF was in threat of being cancelled due to the fact that I had had no response to the stimulation drugs. The dosage had already been increased to the highest level and there was nothing further the hospital could do. I researched into what I could do to kick start things into action. There were many articles suggesting the benefits of acupuncture and I looked for clinics in my area and saw that the Calverley and Rawdon Clinic was affiliated with the fertility expert Zita West’s clinic. I wanted to ensure I went to a specialist fertility acupuncturist who would understand the nature of my treatment and my worries and needs.
I had two treatments of acupuncture prior to my next hospital appointment and the nurses were shocked to see such a response and rather than being cancelled my egg collection was scheduled shortly afterwards. Whilst I was nervous about those early treatments, I found acupuncture to be relaxing and not at all painful. I continued with acupuncture throughout my fertility treatment.
Unfortunately my first cycle was unsuccessful, though we were fortunate enough to get two frozen embryos from that cycle. I had acupuncture treatments in the lead up to and throughout my frozen cycle four months later and I am now very happily 12 weeks pregnant.
I credit Caroline’s acupuncture treatments for helping the first cycle to continue, as the frozen embryo that will become our first baby was collected from that cycle that initially looked to be so much in jeopardy.
