It was my first experience of any ‘alternative’ medicine. I was immediately set at ease by the holistic approach to treatment and the attention given to our particular circumstances. Acupuncture gave me very positive energy throughout our hospital treatments, giving mental and physical strength to meet and accept any outcome. At the clinic I was given needle treatments and advised on Chinese herbs and diet throughout my IVF and later throughout my pregnancy. The results were that I got pregnant, had a very healthy pregnancy, again assisted by acupuncture techniques, and now have a delightful two year old. I am so glad we found Calverley and Rawdon Clinic. My experiences are that traditional medicines can be intrusive and intense; acupuncture for us was gentle without side effects and effective. For me, acupuncture is an overall positive experience on its own or alongside traditional treatments to restore balance.

I’ve been having a series of labour preparation treatments with her culminating in my final one which was at 6pm on my due date .We welcomed our healthy & beautiful little girl yesterday evening and I’m convinced it was the same day combination of a sweep followed by acupuncture that got labour going the very next morning. I was very anxious knowing that my baby was in the breech position at 35 weeks. I wanted to do everything I could to avoid a caesarean. I myself am a midwife so knew what my hospital could offer, which was an ECV after 36 weeks. I knew from research I had come across in my profession that moxibustion had a similar success rate to ECV but carried less risks to myself and my baby. So I googled local places to have the treatment and came across Calverley and Rawdon Acupuncture clinic. Caroline was fantastic on the phone gave me lots of information when booking my appointment. When I arrived the clinic room was wonderfully calm and peaceful so I immediately felt relaxed. Caroline went through a thorough consultation and explained the treatment in detail. The treatment itself was very relaxing and my baby seemed to enjoy it wriggling away like crazy. She gave me an information leaflet on how to continue the treatment myself at home and much to my amazement the baby turned to head down 3 days later. I was over the moon, and am now 39+4 weeks waiting patiently for my baby to arrive naturally. Caroline also informed me of an acupuncture treatment that aims to induce labour, which if I go overdue, I plan to book and have every confidence it will help me meet my baby that little bit sooner.

Having been diagnosed with Bell’s Palsy three weeks earlier, (no, I’d never heard of it either) both my GP and the NHS physiotherapist that I was referred to had warned me to expect continued facial paralyse for up to six months and possibly beyond. Almost immediately after starting a twice weekly acupuncture programme at the clinic, I experienced significant and clearly noticeable improvement. After another three weeks I was able to close my left eye and do away with the eye patch. My Physio’s mouth literally fell open when I showed him the progress I was making at our next scheduled appointment, resulting in me being ‘discharged’ from the NHS outpatient system. Based on my own experience, the impact on improving recovery time from Bell’s Palsy through acupuncture is clear. However, I’m also convinced that the broader experience that I received at this particular clinic helped me manage the emotional effects of the condition, through Caroline’s professional but very personal approach to treatment, and giving me regular points within my week to proactively do something to help my recovery

I have been coming to you for acupuncture for a good many years now and I am happy to say that you have helped me maintain a balance for my health through the acupuncture treatments you have provided. You have treated my gastro-intestinal problems so that I have been able to reduce my medication and sleep better. Originally the hospital consultant wanted me to have a stomach operation for my reflux problem , but thankfully I refused the operation and found that acupuncture has saved me from having drastic surgery. I now only need a top up once a month or so and also have found your dietary advice invaluable ( as long as I follow it!!).

After experiencing the fantastic revitalising effects of the Facial Rejuvenating acupuncture I would recommend it to anyone who would like to retain a younger appearance.
After unsuccessfully trying for a baby and having several tests I was told by an eminent expert in fertility that my sperm had problems with mobility and function and that my wife and I would need to have IVF and ICSI to conceive a child. I was told that I was probably born this way and it could be genetic, having had no other children we agreed to be put on the waiting list for IVF. Both my wife and I had many acupuncture sessions over the course of several months with Caroline at her clinic in the run up to our IVF treatment. The day of the egg collection I was ushered away my an embryologist and told that since the last time I was tested my sperm had recovered to become much higher quality, as good as ‘normal’ in fact and that we would no longer require ICSI. We subsequently fertilised 12 eggs using normal IVF and managed to have a blastocyst implanted, as a bonus we had two embryos’s frozen. We are currently waiting to find out if my wife is pregnant but I but would like to thank Caroline for my treatment and potentially curing my ‘problem’.

After trying to get pregnant for several years, two years ago my husband was diagnosed with severe oligospermia – a very low sperm count. We couldn’t believe it! It was a real unexpected shock. Fortunately with my fertility intact, we were accepted onto a course of ICSI treatment with LGI.
Wanting to maximise our chances of success, we spent some time researching on the internet, and we decided to focus on improving our lifestyle with better nutrition and acupuncture.
