After trying to get pregnant for several years, two years ago my husband was diagnosed with severe oligospermia – a very low sperm count. We couldn’t believe it! It was a real unexpected shock. Fortunately with my fertility intact, we were accepted onto a course of ICSI treatment with LGI.
Wanting to maximise our chances of success, we spent some time researching on the internet, and we decided to focus on improving our lifestyle with better nutrition and acupuncture. We found Caroline, who really fitted the bill as she is affiliated to Zita West. My husband was treated first with acupuncture, which he found very relaxing and Caroline supported his treatment with Chinese medicine. I was also treated in preparation for and throughout the ICSI cycle. Both of us found Caroline very supportive and understanding throughout this difficult period in our lives. The outcome has been a massive success – my husband’s sperm improved in quality, and we were successful in conceiving one beautiful baby girl on our first attempt. We are thrilled!! I firmly believe that we couldn’t have done it without Caroline’s help. Caroline was also fantastic at supporting me throughout my pregnancy – I had a lovely pregnancy throughout. This is my second pregnancy and I have had acupuncture for morning sickness since the beginning since having suffered first time around. The effects have been outstanding, with my symptoms of persistent nausea controlled significantly with weekly treatment.

It was my first experience of any ‘alternative’ medicine. I was immediately set at ease by the holistic approach to treatment and the attention given to our particular circumstances. Acupuncture gave me very positive energy throughout our hospital treatments, giving mental and physical strength to meet and accept any outcome. At the clinic I was given needle treatments and advised on Chinese herbs and diet throughout my IVF and later throughout my pregnancy. The results were that I got pregnant, had a very healthy pregnancy, again assisted by acupuncture techniques, and now have a delightful two year old. I am so glad we found Calverley and Rawdon Clinic. My experiences are that traditional medicines can be intrusive and intense; acupuncture for us was gentle without side effects and effective. For me, acupuncture is an overall positive experience on its own or alongside traditional treatments to restore balance.

I first heard about the benefits of acupuncture alongside IVF treatment when my first cycle of IVF was in threat of being cancelled due to the fact that I had had no response to the stimulation drugs. The dosage had already been increased to the highest level and there was nothing further the hospital could do. I researched into what I could do to kick start things into action. There were many articles suggesting the benefits of acupuncture and I looked for clinics in my area and saw that the Calverley and Rawdon Clinic was affiliated with the fertility expert Zita West’s clinic. I wanted to ensure I went to a specialist fertility acupuncturist who would understand the nature of my treatment and my worries and needs.
I had two treatments of acupuncture prior to my next hospital appointment and the nurses were shocked to see such a response and rather than being cancelled my egg collection was scheduled shortly afterwards. Whilst I was nervous about those early treatments, I found acupuncture to be relaxing and not at all painful. I continued with acupuncture throughout my fertility treatment.
Unfortunately my first cycle was unsuccessful, though we were fortunate enough to get two frozen embryos from that cycle. I had acupuncture treatments in the lead up to and throughout my frozen cycle four months later and I am now very happily 12 weeks pregnant.
I credit Caroline’s acupuncture treatments for helping the first cycle to continue, as the frozen embryo that will become our first baby was collected from that cycle that initially looked to be so much in jeopardy.
I would recommend the Calverley and Rawdon Acupuncture Clinic to anyone embarking on the journey through fertility treatment.

If I’d not been recommended Rawdon Acupuncture by my chiropractor, I wouldn’t be dealing with my perimenopause head on like this, I’d still be thinking it was something that just happened and that I had to live with it. Each time I visit , you have reviewed my current state of health as a whole person, so that whenever I have had other problems such as hot flushes with the menopause or musculoskeletal pain such as neck or back pain you have given me acupuncture for these as well. I have been coming to you for acupuncture for a good many years now and I am happy to say that you have helped me maintain a balance for my health through the acupuncture treatments you have provided. You have treated my gastro-intestinal problems so that I have been able to reduce my medication and sleep better. Originally the hospital consultant wanted me to have a stomach operation for my reflux problem , but thankfully I refused the operation and found that acupuncture has saved me from having drastic surgery. I now only need a top up once a month or so and also have found your dietary advice invaluable ( as long as I follow it!!).

I first went to see Caroline to try acupuncture for unexplained infertility. I had read some articles on how acupuncture can help with infertility and wanted to try all I could to help me get pregnant naturally and then to support me through an IVF cycle if my fertility journey came to that. Over the years I ended up having 2 ICSI cycles plus 2 frozen embryo transfers. I then had a natural pregnancy whilst on some immunotherapy treatment. Caroline & Rachael were fantastic throughout my journey. There are 3 things that I loved about this clinic:. Caroline & Rachael explained why different acupuncture points were used at different stages of my monthly cycle, through IVF and through pregnancy. I noticed a difference in my periods as soon as I started acupuncture (less blood clots) from the very beginning of my acupuncture treatment so I knew it was working and doing something!. I found the acupuncture treatment very relaxing, which is an added bonus when dealing with the stress of unexplained infertility. And most importantly, Caroline and Rachael gave me fantastic emotional support and helped me ask the right questions of my fertility clinics. They are a wonderful, caring and professional team. After many years of fertility treatment, I am pleased that I now have a little miracle that has joined our family. I will miss my regular sessions with Caroline and Rachael. No doubt I will pop back for the odd relaxation treatment instead!

I had osteoarthritis in my knees and went to see Caroline at Calverley and Rawdon Acupuncture Clinic. I found the acupuncture extremely helpful in easing and controlling the pain until knee replacements 2 years later. I now have spondylolisthesis (lower back pain) and was in a great deal of discomfort but have recently started acupuncture again and have been amazed at the immense relief after only a few sessions.

Unhappy with fine lines & wrinkles I embarked on courses of facials from glycolic acid peels to collagen treatments recommended as the best anti-aging treatments. In my experience there was a small improvement which only lasted a few days and cost me a fortune! Eventually found Facial Rejuvenation acupuncture. After 12 weeks of treatment my fine lines had virtually disappeared and wrinkles had considerably lessen. To such an extent I ditch the glycolic acid based facial products. I have successfully maintained a younger appearance with just one monthly treatment. I am absolutely delighted with the results of the Facial Rejuvenation acupuncture.
